Beth, Olivia, Charlotte, Bethany and Aimee from the company 'Play on Word' have safely returned from their Life changing trip to India. The girls from Cams Hill School were winners of the 2014 Faith & Football Social Enterprise & Business Challenge. The top prize was for the team to visit Goa in India and see at first hand some of the orphanage projects that the charity supports.
As part of the trip the young entrepreneurs have visited the Little Angels orphanage where they spent time making bracelets and playing football with the young kids, Charlotte said, “ it is amazing that these orphans have so little yet they seem so happy”
The team also bought rice in the local market and distributed it in a remote village. “ It is very humbling to hand out food to these precious people and to see how glad they are to receive it” said Steve Rolls the teams business mentor.
Although the girls have been well off the tourist path they have also enjoyed the delights of the sandy Goan beaches and the warm waters of the Arabian Sea as well as the excitement of an elephant ride.

The Social Enterprise & Business Challenge which has run in Portsmouth and surrounding areas for the last 10 years has now expanded to Cambridge!  St Bede's have become the first school to sign up to the challenge and have had a fantastic interest from the pupils with almost 100 students taking part!  Pupils from St Bede's met with Michael Scott, Faith & Football's regional manager, to have their questions answered and to begin forming their teams and developing ideas.
The Head Teacher, Alistair Day, said, "This is a great opportunity for our students and we are happy to be supporting this charity!"
Michael Scott is currently recruiting some more Business Mentors to assist him in helping the youngsters.
The students and teachers of St Bede's will head to Portsmouth for the launch of the challenge and check out the Portsmouth competition!
The Grafton Centre is already on board to provide space for the Cambridge Trading Day which will give students the chance to sell real products to real people and make real money!

An October day that was more like summer, a group of enthusiastic Cool and Courageous cycle riders and a willing and well equipped support team made a perfect setting for our 2014 fundraiser.
Riders left Fratton Park after an early morning hot drink and energy bar and a last minute bike check for the 30 mile or 80 mile ride through the Hampshire countryside. Both groups made their way via the Gosport Ferry to Privett Park home of Gosport Football Club for a brief refreshment stop before they set off in different directions to tackle respective routes.
This the 7th year of Faith & Football sponsored cycle rides proved a major success with its new formula catering for both the “Cool” novice riders and the “Courageous” experienced 80 milers. All participants received a certificate to mark their outstanding achievement and a medal commemorating their efforts in support of the Faith & Football charity’s work with young people and families in the Portsmouth area.
