On Tuesday we saw 200 year 9 students, teachers, business mentors and guests gather at Fratton Park to find out who had won the Social Enterprise & Business Challenge 2016, winning the prize of the trip of a lifetime to Goa in India. This year 27 teams from across the city and surrounding areas crossed the finish line. The students have had an incredible experience over the last 6 months, having to form a business, create a product and trade to the general public. This unique opportunity has allowed the students to gain insight into the world of business and has increased the student’s employability and enterprise skills.
There were 6 secondary awards for the following teams:Highly Commended - Snapshot, St Edmunds
Social Awareness Award - Angels for Occasions, Connaught
Most Innovative Business Award - Zig-a-zagaz, Oaklands School
Outstanding Commitment Award - Glazed, Oaklands
Outstanding Teamwork Award - Ocean Scents, PGS
Best and Most Sustainable Product Award - Argonaut Design, St Johns
A huge congratulations to Glazed who were the overall winners of the competition! A team of 6 girls whose business sold cupcakes, cookies and other baked goods! The team will fly out to Goa in India, they will get to see some of the mission work that Faith & Football support and meet some of the orphans and people who will benefit from part of the profits generated by the companies of the Social Enterprise & Business Challenge.
