|Programmes - Overseas|
In India we continue to support the work of local church leaders through our mission partners Mustard Seed Ministries www.msm.org.uk. They make provision for children who are abandoned and orphaned in Goa to accommodate, feed and educate them in a loving environment.
Faith & Football is also supporting a programme of feeding and caring for the poor in isolated slum areas where they have little contact with everyday society. We are helping to develop the work of an orphanage for severely disabled children with special needs so they are able to have a quality of life that would otherwise not be available to them.
Recently Faith & Football have helped contribute towards the establishment of an orphanage in Chora Island, Goa. It is appropriately named Little Angels, not just in reference to its young clientele but also surely because of its two Mustard Seed sponsored housekeepers, Pedro and Genilda.
Faith & Football have committed funds towards the daily running costs. The charity has also taken a group of UK school children to India where they were able to see at first hand the development of the orphanage. So shocked were they at the need for help that on their return home, they helped their school to raise over £1000 towards the Little Angels project.
Faith & Football have also paid for the bunk beds that sleep the 24 occupants - for the orphans so used to the floor or just a mat, this constitutes luxury. The home was opened in the spring of 2009 and the first orphan to be admitted was a young man called Kumar, he attends the local Sanjay Special School.
